This wind-resistant softshell offers the unbeatable temperature regulation and moisture management of our iconic Vapour-Rise™ range, in a warm, protective package perfect for winter hiking, mountaineering, and skiing.
On stop-start mountain days where you’re ascending, pausing, and then on the move again, you need a do-it-all system which can respond to your output and changing conditions. Perfect for exploring the mountains by foot, skis, or sharps in the depths of winter, this Vapour-Rise™ softshell is built with wind-resistant Pertex® Quantum Air to protect against bitter winds, and finished with a fluorocarbon-free DWR. The feathery VR Warm lining is warm and comfortable yet highly breathable and will efficiently move moisture through the system when you’re tackling a high-energy ascent, making this a versatile jacket which can be worn as an outer or combined with layers on colder days.
The jacket is geared up for gaining altitude with a double-ended zip for easy belaying, and a helmet-compatible hood with a stiffened peak to shield you from the elements. Zipped hand pockets have been strategically positioned to be accessible when wearing a harness or a pack, while a further handy chest pocket is perfect for stashing a map or guide. The jacket’s fit can be adjusted using hook and loop at the cuffs and a single-handed adjustment at the hem, allowing you to seal in the warmth when the temperature plummets.
How to measure.
Chest: Measure the full circumference of your chest just below your armpits.
Waist: Find the top of your hip and measure the full circumference around your body.
Arm length: Measure horizontally from the centre of your back, across the shoulder, over a naturally bent elbow and down to the wrist fold.
Hips: Measure around the widest part of your hip area.
While all our garments are sized to these measurements, you will find that the cut on jackets designed for use in more extreme environments will be slightly more generous in the expectation that these designs will be used with additional/thicker midlayers. If you plan on using a jacket like this with fewer layers beneath it, please keep this in mind when selecting your size.
All garments are designed and fitted to suit their intended end use. See below for a general description of our fit categories:
Regular: Neither slim nor loose. Regular fit items are the perfect balance of form fit and ease of movement.
Slim: A streamlined silhouette. Cut trim following the contours of the body. Expertly placed articulation of seams and the use of stretch fabric ensure maximum freedom of movement in these close-fitting items.
Relaxed: Our more generous fit. Cut loosely through the body allowing for ease of movement and additional layering.
Expedition: Designed specifically to accommodate the layering system and equipment required for high altitude and polar expeditions.
